THU 23: Beach & Paella (official lunch) Non-VIP 2023

What’s this?

Meloneras is a small, sandy and convenient beach at the end of the beautiful promenade along the coast from Maspalomas beach. It features all regular services, including a modern shopping centre with parking lot, taxi rank, restaurants, terrace bars, some shops and toilets. However, it is somewhat secluded and never overcrowded. It is not nudist as the gay beach, but some people go nude at the leftmost end.

We will meet there for an informal free-to-attend gathering, followed by the bear week’s official lunch at Casa Serafín, home of Gran Canaria’s best paella. You can attend any or both of the meetings independently, but please book first and be punctual at the restaurant (14h).

How to get there?

• A 7-minute taxi drive from Yumbo Centre [see map]
• A 20 minute scenic walk from down the promenade from the iconic lighthouse next to Maspalomas beach [see map]

Meeting point and timing

Our staff will be on the promenade opposite the shopping centre tower, by Casa Serafín, at the following times:

• 12h: to welcome you and suggest a place to gather on the beach. Don’t be stressed if you are a bit late, as the beach is only 500 metres wide and we will be easily recognizable.
• 14h: for checking visitors in to the restaurant
• 16h: we will call some taxi vans for those coming to Holiday World (5 minutes away) for the funfair and the bowling alley. Taxi price will be very low, especially if shared. Sorry but we could not organize buses for this short trip due to absurd price inflation.

Menu

• Spanish appetizers: assorted cheeses, Padrón peppers, Canarian wrinkled potatoes, Canarian escaldón (cream made with roasted corn and fish), bread with all-i-oli (Catalan maionese with garlic)
• Main course: mixed paella (with seafood, vegetables and meat)
• Drinks: wine, beer, soft drinks and water
• Dessert: If you are not full enough, come with us for a gelato at one of the best ice-cream parlors on the island, Pingüino Soul, just meters away (price not included).
